[HLIB-NW] Health Literacy Conference, Friday, March 9th in Portland Oregon
Low health literacy is an exploding public health crisis and a cause of health disparities in our country. People with low health literacy are not able to read and use basic instructions and information to make healthcare decisions. The National Patient Safety Council states that no other single issue has a greater impact on health status.
Legacy Health, together with community partners, is hosting the first Oregon and SW Washington Health Literacy Conference Making it Clear on Friday, March 9, 2012 in Portland. National and local experts will share research and evidence-based practices to help increase health literacy and improve quality, safety and outcomes for all.
The conference web site is located at www.legacyhealth.org/healthliteracyconference , where you can find the conference brochure and registration information.
Target attendees for the conference include all who interact with patients in the health care environment; representatives from health plans, community-based and social service organizations; literacy educators; librarians; academics and policy makers. CME and CE credits are offered.
